Oil: SNH puts Zina and Makary back on the market, twelve years after Yan Chang halted work

Cameroon’s National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH) is offering investors six oil blocks, including Zina and Makary in the Logone-Birni basin, where Chinese company Yan Chang’s exploration activities were suspended in 2014. Presented on October 12, 2026, in Cape Town, South Africa, the tender also includes four blocks left unawarded in the previous round: Ndian River, Bakassi, Bomono and Kombe-Nsepe. Bids are due by May 28, 2027, with results expected in June. In April 2026, five of the nine blocks offered in 2025 were awarded to Murphy West Africa and Octavia Energy for production-sharing contract negotiations.
