Olympics: Chelle Monitoring Liverpool Players Ahead of U23 AFCON Qualifiers

Olympic Eagles coach Eric Chelle is monitoring Liverpool central defenders Wellity Lucky and Noah Adekoya ahead of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Adekoya joined Liverpool from Burnley in January 2026 and has yet to make an international appearance for Nigeria, while Fulham player Chibuzo Nwoko made his debut in the recent friendly against Russia. Born in Zaragoza, Lucky is eligible for Nigeria, Spain and England; he has represented England at U15 and U16 level and made a first-team appearance for Liverpool against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup in October 2025. Nigeria are scheduled to face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the qualifiers in November 2026.
