Olympics: Germany picks Munich for Summer Games bid

Munich was selected by the German Olympic Committee (DOSB) as the candidate to host the Summer Olympics in 2036, 2040, or 2044, ahead of the Cologne/Rhine-Ruhr region. The decision was announced by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during the general assembly in Baden-Baden. Munich's bid focuses on the Olympic Park, extensively renovated from its original 1972 construction.
