Oman oil escape route: How ship-to-ship transfers work — despite big risks

Saudi Arabia's oil exports have been disrupted after Iran-aligned Houthis damaged a key pipeline. To circumvent the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Riyadh is now transporting its oil to Sohar port in Oman, where it is transferred from Saudi tankers to others. The closure of the strait has prompted the US and its allies to adopt shadow tactics similar to those used by Iran to export its own crude.
