Omtatah Moves to Court Over IEBC Changes to Ballot Paper Security

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah Okoiti has taken the High Court to challenge the IEBC's decision to relax several ballot paper security specifications ahead of the 2027 General Election. He requests the court to annul the changes, arguing that the IEBC has not demonstrated that the revised specifications provide the same or better protection against electoral malpractice. The dispute involves modifications such as replacing multicolored serial numbers with black ones and removing certain security features while keeping others mandatory. Omtatah urges the court to require an independent technical assessment before implementing the new requirements.
