One Billion in Fake Banknotes: How the Released Soldier Was Able to Launch His Own Mafia

Dakar's Criminal Investigation Brigade arrested six individuals and seized 1.276 billion FCFA worth of counterfeit banknotes in a network led by a recently released soldier who returned from Italy. The soldier, claiming to be a close protection instructor, was caught in the act after a first member was arrested in Nguekhokh while delivering fake bills. During a raid, authorities found 1.02 billion FCFA in foreign currencies under a mattress, along with weapons, fake stamps, mercury, and a dagger.
