One dead after truck overturns in midnight crash in Lagos

An elderly man whose identity was not established died when a loaded Mercedes-Benz truck overturned near the TREM axis of Gbagada, inward Oshodi, in Lagos. A front tyre reportedly burst, causing the driver to lose control and throwing the passenger from the cabin; he suffered a fatal head injury. LASTMA’s night rescue team secured the scene and moved the body into a LASEMS ambulance, with support from the Pedro Police Division and Lagos firefighters. The truck’s cargo was to be transferred to another vehicle before recovery, and LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki urged motorists to moderate their speed and inspect their vehicles.
