One passenger dies after truck overturns in Lagos

An elderly passenger died after a loaded truck overturned near the TREM axis of Gbagada, inward Oshodi, in Lagos. LASTMA said the six-tyre Mercedes-Benz truck was travelling at considerable speed when a front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control; the passenger was thrown from the cabin and suffered a fatal head injury. Rescue teams evacuated the body and secured the scene, while the cargo had to be transferred to another truck before the wreck could be recovered. LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki offered condolences and urged drivers to observe speed limits and road-safety practices.
