Orphanage Fire in Algeria: What We Know About the Tragedy

On the night of July 16, a fire devastated the Établissement de l'enfance assistée in Mohammadia, on the outskirts of Algiers, killing 11 and injuring 19, according to the Algerian Civil Protection. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his deep sadness, and Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb visited hospitals treating the injured. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, as the country faces a wave of 913 fires since July 8.
