Osun Guber: INEC seeks solutions to voter apathy

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to address voter apathy ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election. During a policy dialogue in Osogbo, National Commissioner Kunle Ajayi emphasized that citizen participation is central to electoral integrity. INEC hopes the lessons from this election, the last off-cycle poll before the 2027 General Elections, will improve turnout. Acting Director-General of The Electoral Institute, Ibrahim Sani, described voter apathy as a major challenge to Nigerian democracy.
