Osun Press Week: Bishop and Adeleke’s aide urge journalists to uphold the truth

At the thanksgiving service for the 2026 Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Week in Osogbo, Methodist Bishop Olu Akinola and Samuel Ojo, special adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke, urged journalists in Osun State to uphold truth, professionalism and accountability. Akinola stressed their watchdog role in supporting democracy and called for scrutiny of public policies, warning that personal interests can erode public confidence in the media. Ojo urged reporters to verify information, ensure fairness and resist influence from political affiliations or financial inducements. Osun NUJ Council Chairman Adeyemi Aboderin also called for responsible journalism.
