Osun residents turn to firewood as cooking gas hits N2,000/kg

Following a sharp increase in the price of cooking gas (LPG) to about ₦2,000 per kilogram, residents of Osun State, Nigeria, are turning to charcoal and firewood. Residents such as Rukayat Abiola, a fast-food vendor, and Folasade Adebayo expressed frustration, noting the high cost strains household budgets and businesses. Others like Juliet Adeosun and Foluke Olugbemiga have switched to coal pots or firewood. Retailers attribute the hike to inadequate supply.
