Over 200 Families Displaced Over Demolitions On Affordable Housing Project in Changamwe

Over 200 families in Changamwe, Mombasa County, were displaced by demolitions for an affordable housing project on Sunday, July 12, despite a court order halting the exercise. Residents had received a one-month eviction notice and were offered Ksh4,000, which they deemed insufficient. Police used teargas to hasten evictions. Community leaders warned of shifting political allegiance if demands are not met.
