According to a statement from FAO and WFP, over 26.5 million Congolese struggle to meet their basic food needs, with 3.6 million in emergency situations. Humanitarian aid in the DRC is deemed insufficient, and FAO calls for urgent investments to prevent worsening of the crisis. In 2026, FAO is supporting 55,500 families in several provinces with $10 million in funding but needs an additional $163 million to scale up its assistance.
