Over 40 people feared dead as MV MJP Ship sinks in Lake Tanganyika

The MV MJP ship, which usually sails between DRC and Tanzania, sank in Lake Tanganyika, with at least 40 people missing and many feared dead. About 90 people, including passengers and crew, were on board traveling from Kigoma to Kalemie when the vessel capsized near Mapera Village in DRC. The cause of the accident is still unknown, but turbulent weather and possible overloading are suspected. Search teams have been deployed to find the missing persons, following a similar incident on the same lake a week earlier.
