Owo Church Attack: Aiyedatiwa hails death sentence for four convicts

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has welcomed the death sentence by hanging handed to four individuals found guilty of the June 5, 2022 attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo. In a statement, he described the verdict as a triumph for justice and the rule of law, commending the judiciary, security agencies, and prosecution team. The Federal High Court in Abuja convicted Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, and Abdulhaleem Idris on terrorism charges. Aiyedatiwa pledged to enhance security and praised the resilience of Owo residents.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has acquired and deployed eight operational gun trucks to enhance the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals' fight against illegal mining.
