Oyebanji seeks federal support for livestock development

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji called for increased federal support to develop livestock, create jobs and expand economic opportunities. He made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving Livestock Development Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha, who commissioned a modern veterinary hospital in Ado-Ekiti and inspected projects under the LPRESS programme. Oyebanji said federal intervention was particularly needed to expand and sustain the Ikun Dairy Farm. Maiha said the federal government was ready to strengthen its partnership with Ekiti to boost production and support food security.

After Kenya, Dangote launches a $2.5 billion oil project in Namibia

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote launched a $2.5 billion fuel storage and transport project at the port of Walvis Bay on November 4, 2026, alongside Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. The depot is planned to hold about 600 million litres of fuel, including 360 million litres of diesel, and construction is expected to take 18 to 20 months. Nearly eight times larger than Namcor’s facility, it is intended to reduce transport costs and Namibia’s dependence on imports. A proposed 1,700-kilometre pipeline could later connect the terminal to Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia, with a possible extension to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Togo adds CFA 20 billion to support fuel prices

Togo’s government is adding CFA 20 billion to petroleum-product subsidies in its 2026 supplementary budget, raising the allocation to CFA 34.2 billion from CFA 14.2 billion originally planned. The increase is intended to cushion consumers from higher hydrocarbon costs after fuel prices were revised twice in 2026. On September 11, the price of unleaded gasoline rose to CFA 817 per litre and diesel to CFA 766, while Brent crude reached a 2026 peak of $126.41 a barrel on April 30. The subsidy also exceeds the approximately CFA 25 billion estimated for 2025.
