Oyedele: Tinubu government has yet to implement petrol price cut to N1,350 per litre

Two weeks after Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele’s announcement, NNPCL stations in Abuja and nearby areas have yet to apply the proposed petrol price of N1,350 per litre. Most are charging N1,405, up from N1,370 before the announcement, while other stations sell petrol for between N1,395 and N1,429. IPMAN president Abubakar Maigandi said the cut would have eased pressure on motorists and called for it to be extended to other retailers. Oyedele said the proposal did not constitute a return to fuel subsidies, but debate over their possible reinstatement has resurfaced ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

2027: Makinde criticises Tinubu over budget implementation

Oyo State Governor and African Peoples Movement presidential candidate Seyi Makinde criticised the implementation of national budgets under President Bola Tinubu at a town hall meeting in Akure, saying it was unclear which federal budget was being executed. He promised that, if elected in 2027, he would reset Nigeria’s security architecture, economy and political system. Makinde called for a tax system that taxes prosperity rather than poverty and said budget performance in Oyo State had risen from 28–30% to more than 70%, with a January-to-December budget cycle. He also argued that infrastructure projects should serve economic needs rather than political favoritism or regional interests.

2027: Federal Agency Chiefs Target 10 Million Votes for Tinubu

The Forum of CEOs of Federal Government Parastatals (FORCEPA) says it has mobilised more than 100,000 supporters for Saturday’s APC presidential campaign launch in Kaduna. Its chairman, Kazeem Kolawole Raji, said the forum, which represents more than 500 agency chiefs, aims to secure over 10 million votes for Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima in the 2027 election. FORCEPA defended the government’s economic reforms, including removing the petrol subsidy, while acknowledging continuing hardship for households and businesses. It also forecast that a proposed requirement for at least 30 per cent local value addition to raw materials before export could create 1.2 million jobs within one to two years.
