The Nigerian presidency announced that eight kidnappers involved in the abduction of pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo State, have been arrested and are in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), while others were neutralized during the rescue operation. The victims were freed after 56 days in captivity. Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, stated that no ransom was paid and that one of the terrorists whose release the kidnappers demanded is being prosecuted for his atrocities.
