Oyo abductions: Move beyond rhetoric, act now - CAN tells govt

The South-West zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) called on the Federal Government to immediately declare a state of emergency on security due to rising kidnappings, banditry, and violent crimes in states like Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, and Lagos. Bishop Dr. Barnabas Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, Chairman of CAN South-West, condemned the deteriorating security situation and urged concrete actions, including deploying modern surveillance technology, enhancing intelligence, and establishing state police. He stressed that extraordinary times require extraordinary responses and that national security should override political considerations.
