Oyo: Police arrest three men over alleged homosexual acts

Police in Oyo State arrested Ayomide Lukeman, 22, Shuaib Aremu, 22, and Abdul-Rasheed Mufeed, 23, in Saki after receiving intelligence on September 29, 2026, about alleged same-sex acts. Police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade said preliminary investigations indicated that the men had allegedly admitted to the acts, with two reportedly saying they had had sexual relations with the third on several occasions. The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances and determine whether others were involved. Nigeria’s 2013 Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act provides for up to 14 years in prison for those convicted of entering a same-sex marriage or civil union.
