Army: Bassirou Diomaye Faye's Decision on Battalion Chief Cheikh Sow Went Unnoticed

By decree n°2025-1613 signed in Dakar on October 2, 2025, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye decided to retain Battalion Chief Cheikh Sow within the armed forces, despite his appearance before an investigation council in April 2025 for misconduct against honor and probity. The initially planned dismissal was not carried out, and the decision received little media attention. Cheikh Sow, from the Train Battalion, faced potential dismissal for breaches of military duties, but the president ruled in his favor. The decision follows the 1962 law and the 1989 decree, and must be formally notified to the officer.
