Ethiopia: Abiy Ahmed announces interim administration in Tigray

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced a six-month interim administration for Tigray, approved by the Council of Ministers. The announcement follows the TPLF’s loss of control over major cities, including Mekele, amid renewed fighting and the region’s legacy of the 2020–2022 war.

Violence in the east has displaced more than 26,000 people in North and South Kivu and is obstructing humanitarian access and the Ebola response.
