PAGAD-led march follows deadly gang shootings in Athlone

On October 11, 2026, residents of Athlone, along with PAGAD, protested against gang violence following the death of a 65-year-old woman and a man in a shooting on Voel Street in Belgravia. The community reports daily shootings, affecting even children and places of worship, with innocent victims killed or wounded in crossfire between rival gangs such as the Fancy Boys and JFK. Imam Mobeen Alexander highlighted the community's concern over the Madrassa closing for the first time in 38 years due to shootings, urging community unity.
