Since September 1, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has recorded more than 200 Israeli attacks on Palestinian farmers, surpassing the 185 documented during the entire 2025 harvest season. After the UN General Assembly adopted the “Correct the Map” resolution on September 4, 2026, with 164 votes in favor, one against and six abstentions, Togo is moving ahead with translations of the Equal Earth map into African languages. Target languages include Hausa, Yoruba, Wolof, Lingala, Zulu, Malagasy, Ewe, Kabiye and Kotokoli; a Kiswahili translation is already underway. The translations will be released free of charge under an open license, with selected teams announced on January 15, 2027, and work due by the end of February.

The center noted that Cosmos-series satellites had approached the same satellite in May, with Cosmos 2609 coming within 2.5 kilometers. In 2022, Russian Foreign Ministry official Konstantin Vorontsov warned that quasi-civilian infrastructure could become a legitimate target for retaliation.
