Parents of seriously ill children should get paid leave, says commissioner

Children's Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza has called for the government to introduce a legal right to 12 weeks of paid leave at 90% of normal pay for parents of seriously ill or disabled children. She emphasized the immense pressure families face and supported increasing unpaid carer's leave from five to ten days a year. This request follows advocacy from the parents of Hugh Menai-Davis, who died of cancer at six, pushing for changes in employment law.
