Parliament raises concerns over R2.2 billion redevelopment of Telkom Towers

A redevelopment plan for Telkom Towers in Pretoria costing up to R2.2 billion has come under scrutiny by Parliament, which urges the government to account for previous losses before proceeding. Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson announced that a Request for Information would be issued to gauge private sector interest, with the project involving refurbishment of nine buildings under a rehabilitate-operate-transfer model. The redevelopment aims to create 106,000m2 of leasable space, allowing government departments in private leases to move into state-owned buildings and offering opportunities for private tenants.
