‘Partial satisfaction’: Sri Lankans hail 2019 bombings ruling with a caveat

On April 21, 2019, coordinated attacks inspired by ISIS targeted churches and hotels across Sri Lanka, killing 279 people, including 45 foreigners, and injuring over 500. Among the victims was 13-year-old Kanishka Hirushi, killed at St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo, while her father, Indika Rohan, expressed partial satisfaction with the court verdict convicting 15 suspects involved in the attacks. The court found them guilty of over 23,000 charges, including murder and conspiracy to commit terrorist acts.
