Participatory democracy on the move across departments

The Benin government launches a national campaign for the co-construction of its public policies. Departmental consultations take place from August 13 to 20, 2026, to collect concrete proposals anchored in the realities of the terrain. Citizens will be able to exchange directly with prefecture officials and municipal elected officials. The goal is to move away from top-down decision-making schemes for a more transparent and accountable government.
