Passenger and cargo traffic lift SGR cash to Sh11.6bn in first half of 2026

Passenger and freight traffic on the standard gauge railway (SGR) increased in the first six months of 2026, pushing combined revenue from the railway’s operations to Sh11.6 billion. Revenue from passengers rose 14.6 percent to Sh2.37 billion in the first half of the year, from Sh2.07 billion in the same period in 2025, according to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.
