Former governor of the Central Bank of Congo, Jean-Claude Masangu Mulongo, dismissed Noël Tshiani's claim of being the father of the Congolese franc, stating it was a collective effort. He explained that the currency's design involved a technical team and that President Laurent-Désiré Kabila refused to have his effigy on the banknotes, opting instead for Lumumba's image. Mulongo also recalled his involvement in the selection process for leading the BCC, in which Tshiani was also a candidate.
