Patrick Muyaya urges C64 to clarify its position after Joseph Kabila creates the FRN

Congolese government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya urged leaders of the Article 64 Coalition (C64) to clarify their position after former president Joseph Kabila took the lead of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), a politico-military movement announced in Goma on October 12. In a video circulated on October 18, Muyaya addressed coalition members, including Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Delly Sesanga and Jean-Marc Kabund, who had called for Kabila to take part in an inclusive political dialogue. Muyaya said Kabila’s decision to take up arms amounted to an attack on the Republic and the constitutional order. President Félix Tshisekedi had said on August 27 that those fighting the constitutional order by force could not participate in the national dialogue as a political component.

Those interviewed oppose using force against Félix Tshisekedi’s government and fear another conflict.
