Peacekeeping Operations: DRC Advocates for Ground-Adapted Mandates and Adequate Resources at the UN, 'Rationalization Cannot Become Synonymous with Renunciation'

The Democratic Republic of the Congo called for a reevaluation of UN peacekeeping operations during the 10,226th Security Council session. Nicolas Mupepe Matomene, representing the DRC, emphasized that rationalization should not mean an automatic reduction of capabilities. He stressed the importance of adapting mandates to ground realities and maintaining a strong partnership with host states to ensure the effectiveness of missions.
