CD Tenerife fans gathered outside the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to honour forward Jesús de Miguel, who died on Tuesday aged 30. He succumbed to injuries from a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a Spanish second-division match. Moments of silence and other tributes were held before several European fixtures, including matches involving Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Villarreal. Spanish police are investigating possible involuntary manslaughter, although Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s chief prosecutor said criminal charges were unlikely because the collision occurred during play.
