Since October 2023, over 80% of Gaza's buildings have been damaged or destroyed due to the war initiated by Israel, turning neighborhoods into rubble and destroying much of the infrastructure. Many historic sites, including the Great Omari Mosque, Qasr al-Basha, the Samaritan Bathhouse, al-Qissariya Market, and Saint Porphyrius Church, have been heavily damaged or destroyed, altering the city's landscape and landmarks. Gaza's port and the main coastal road, Al-Rashid Street, have also suffered extensive damage, with displaced families living in tents. The war has erased many historical references and significantly transformed the city after three years of bombardment.
