Pink October: Dr Fatma Guenoun Calls for Increased Mobilization Against Breast Cancer

Over 3,400 people participated in a march marking the launch of Pink October in Senegal, themed 'Act for Life'. Dr Fatma Guenoun, president of the Senegalese League Against Cancer (LISCA), called for increased mobilization against breast cancer, citing approximately 2,220 new cases and over 1,300 deaths, and emphasizing the high cost of treatment. LISCA will hold consultations at its headquarters in Sacré-Cœur 3 Pyrotechnique starting October 1, with awareness efforts continuing throughout October, involving pharmacists and partners such as Fondation Sénégal Solidaire, Wave Sénégal, and DP World. A dedicated center for women's cancers is under construction at Dalal Jamm Hospital, with the first stone laid on April 8, 2026.
