Pioneering US hip-hop artiste Afrika Bambaataa dies at 68

Groundbreaking US hip-hop artist and DJ Afrika Bambaataa, known for his 1982 hit 'Planet Rock,' has died at age 68, according to his former record label. Tommy Boy Records reflected on his contributions to hip-hop culture in an Instagram post. TMZ reported that Bambaataa died from complications of cancer early Thursday morning in Pennsylvania.
