PMC candidate says paid-for election posters were removed in Touws River

FJ Petersen, the People’s Movement for Change (PMC) candidate for Ward 1 in Touws River, says Breede Valley Municipality law enforcement officers removed his election posters. The party paid R6,880 in advertising fees and sent proof of payment to the municipality on October 29, before the posters were put up on Saturday. Petersen says he saw officers remove a poster on Monday and that they ignored his request to show them the proof of payment. He says the removal, days before the local government elections, has harmed his campaign and caused a financial loss.
