Police arrest Islamic cleric over alleged defamatory publications

Police in Oyo State have arrested Islamic cleric Jamiu Adegunwa over alleged defamatory publications against the President of the Academy of Islamic Propagation, Mallam Yusuf Adepoju. Adegunwa was arrested in Ibadan after failing to appear before a Federal High Court in Osogbo. He faces charges for making defamatory statements on his social media platform Al-Madrasatu Wahabiya from July 2021 to date, contravening sections of the Cybercrimes Act 2015.
