Police arrest two suspected cable vandals in Abuja

Police in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory arrested Sagir Abubakar and Seidu Umar Bello on suspicion of stealing armoured cable from public and private infrastructure in Abuja. Officers spotted suspiciously parked vehicles on Walter Ofonagoro Street in Guzape at about 1:30 a.m. on October 31, and a search nearby uncovered several cables cut into pieces. Police said Abubakar was part of a gang targeting secluded locations; both suspects remain in custody as investigators seek other members and prepare to charge them.
