Police Probe Karen Nyamu After Claims About Forged Recruitment Certificate

The National Police Service (NPS) is examining a video in which nominated Senator Karen Nyamu says she helped a supporter use a forged KCSE certificate to join the police. In a Radio Generation interview on October 23, Nyamu said the recruit had attended training at the police college in Kiganjo before being arrested for forgery alongside 17 others. NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga called the remarks regrettable and unacceptable and said recruits implicated in document-forgery cases had been expelled. The service said applicants’ documents are subject to verification and warned that attempts to secure recruitment fraudulently would fail.

COMESA: Floribert Anzuluni stresses peace and security as pillars of regional economic integration

Representing Félix Tshisekedi at the COMESA ministerial meeting and 25th summit, held on October 21 and 22, 2026, in Mount Hampden, Zimbabwe, Congolese Regional Integration Minister Floribert Anzuluni stressed the link between security and economic integration. He urged the COMESA Secretariat to address conditions in eastern DR Congo, where hostilities and a worsening humanitarian crisis persist, and where the AFC/M23 rebellion has reportedly become the Front for National Refoundation, led by Joseph Kabila. At the summit, Anzuluni condemned Rwanda’s aggression, abuses against civilians, forced displacement, parallel administrations and the looting of natural resources. He called for effective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2773 and the Washington peace agreement, which requires Rwanda to withdraw its forces.

2027: Enugu ADC alleges attacks and demands a level playing field

Enugu ADC governorship candidate Ocho Obodoeze urged authorities to let all parties campaign freely ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. He accused the ruling APC of suppressing the opposition and cited attacks on its supporters, including an October 10 assault on a campaign office in Enugu in which Ifeanyi Christopher Nworie reportedly suffered fatal gunshot injuries. The state government denies involvement in political attacks and says opposition parties are free to campaign and criticise Governor Peter Mbah’s administration. The ADC also congratulated Obodoeze on an award from the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Correspondents Chapel and pledged that, if elected, he would reduce taxes and prioritise workers’ welfare.

About 25,000 Rally in Madrid in Support of Spain’s State Pension Scheme

About 25,000 people from across Spain marched in Madrid on Saturday to defend the state pension scheme ahead of next month’s general election. They walked from Atocha train station to Gran Via, calling for pensions to remain indexed to inflation and for the gender pension gap to be eliminated. The system faces pressure from an ageing population, low birth rates, stagnant wages and a falling ratio of workers to pensioners; its monthly bill reached nearly 14.5 billion euros this year. Pedro Sanchez accused the Popular Party of planning to weaken inflation-linked increases, while party leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo said he would maintain them if elected.
