Police Union Demands Better Protection

Twelve police officers who died in the line of duty between April 2025 and March 2026 were honored at a ceremony in Pretoria. The South African Policing Union (SAPU) stated that more must be done to protect police officers and called for tougher laws against those who kill police members. Additionally, a 53-year-old man is set to appear in court for fatally stabbing Tshepang Nyathi during Spring Day celebrations in Cullinan.
