Political U-turn: Macky Sall formally urged to return to the APR

Abdou Khafor Touré urged Macky Sall to return to Senegal and take charge of the Alliance for the Republic (APR) after withdrawing his candidacy for UN secretary-general. At a party general meeting held Saturday at the Koumpentoum Departmental Council headquarters, Touré described the withdrawal as an opportunity to prepare for future electoral campaigns. He praised local support despite the departure of several APR officials and called for them to be replaced. The meeting was led by APR regional coordinator and former prime minister Sidiki Kaba, with Augustin Tine, Aliou Dembourou Sow and Yaye Fatou Diagne also in attendance.
