Poll shows Americans are increasingly alarmed by AI’s ecological footprint

A new survey finds that over half of American adults are worried about the environmental impact of artificial intelligence, up 12 percentage points from last year. 53% of respondents are 'extremely' or 'very' concerned about the effects of data centers powering AI on electricity prices and water supply. Democrats are the most concerned, with two-thirds expressing great worry, while public anxiety is rising over the impact of data centers on local communities.
