Power in Africa: Algeria in the ISS 'Big Five'

Algeria is one of five African countries identified by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) as having significant power potential, alongside Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and South Africa. These countries account for about 60% of Africa's economy and 40% of its population. While Algeria has hydrocarbon resources and a strategic geographical position, its power capabilities may stagnate or decline, unlike those of Nigeria and Ethiopia.
