Power outages: Nigerians blast Ikeja DisCo for apologising only to Band A customers

After several days of disruptions, Ikeja Electric apologised to Band A customers in Lagos for failing to provide the minimum 20 hours of electricity on November 4 and 5, 2026. X users criticised the company for not also apologising to customers in Bands B, C, D and E, as well as those without a band classification. Nigeria’s Independent System Operator, NISO, blamed gas shortages for reduced power generation and supply. Power Minister Joseph Tegbe confirmed the challenge and apologised to electricity consumers nationwide.
