President Ramaphosa appoints Lekgetho to be the new South African Head of Special Investigating Unit

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Mr. Leonard Gaoretelelwe Lekgetho as the new head of South Africa's Special Investigating Unit (SIU), starting on September 1, 2026. Mr. Lekgetho succeeds Advocate Andy Mothibi, who left his position in February 2026. With 19 years of experience in the SIU, he has held various roles, including Chief Operations Officer. His mandate is to enhance the stability of the unit in the fight against corruption and crime.
