Prince Harry and five others seek to challenge Mail publisher privacy ruling

Prince Harry, Elton John, David Furnish, Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost and campaigner Baroness Lawrence have asked the Court of Appeal for permission to challenge the dismissal of their case against Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. In July, after an 11-week trial, Mr Justice Nicklin ruled they had failed to prove allegations of unlawful information gathering. The claimants are also challenging a costs order that could require them to pay up to £34.5m, including an initial payment of £9.54m. Liberal Democrat politician Simon Hughes, who was also part of the action, has not said whether he will join the appeal.
