Passengers Escape Unhurt as Mombasa-Bound Bus Bursts Into Flames

A Tahmeed bus travelling from Nairobi to Mombasa was completely destroyed by fire at around 5 a.m. on October 28, 2026, at Kiunduani in Makueni County. After a reported mechanical problem, the driver pulled over and passengers evacuated without injuries. The fire destroyed their luggage and personal belongings, while traffic on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway was temporarily disrupted. Investigations into the cause were underway, and Tahmeed had not issued a statement.
