The health zone of Kayna recorded its first case of Ebola on September 3, 2026, involving a 21-year-old man from Butembo. This case brings the total to six health zones affected in the Lubero territory, currently under AFC/M23 occupation. Since August 2, 2026, four confirmed cases and four deaths have been reported in the area, with a fatality rate of 100%.
